Two years ago when I re-joined Six Apart, I did so out of an interest in evolving social networking technologies along with

brad and we – along with many others – have made an amazing amount of progress. This was my second time working at Six Apart and I'm sad to leave; they're a great bunch of people with some awesome stuff coming.This past year as I've worked closer with teams at Facebook, I've been impressed by their products, smart people, and innovation. I hope to continue building on my past experience in working on making the web more open and useful for everyone along with the great team at Facebook!

As McCrea likes to say, we've seen this movie before — and preventing the AOLization of Facebook is probably the number one thing that openness can prevent (not to mention all the good stuff that openness brings).
I also think that there is a difference between the "openness" that Facebook has promoted this year and the one that we tend to espouse, so narrowing that divide will be a great thing to apply yourself to.
Congrats and good luck, yo.
But it will be great to have you leading the charge for openness and solid ID management practices at a time when Facebook has some important choices to make - both on the technical and policy front. And I'm looking forward to continuing to work with you as you make your move to FB.
